After the holiday brouhaha is over, you’re dead tired from the daily traffic gridlock, you’re over-fatigued from over-shopping, you’re sick of lines and crowds, and you’re probably in need of a good spa trip.

Here are home spa hacks that you can recreate at the comfort of your own home. Rejuvenation, relaxation, minus the traffic and crowd!

1. Coconut and Salt scrub

For this scrub you need to use pure coconut oil. Just mix half a cup of salt and three tablespoons of coconut oil. If you would like to add a scent to this scrub just add any fragrant oil. Scrub this all you’re your feet and wash off with warm water. This scrub is effective for calloused feet, removing any excess skin, softening the soles and moisturizes your dry and cracked feet. What’s also good about this scrub is that it keeps up to three months! Just store it in a jar at room temperature.

2. Salt and Baking soda scrub/soak

This pantry mixture can be used as a scrub and a soak. For soak, just add equal parts of salt and baking soda into a bowl of warm water. You can also add any fragrant oil for moisture and scent. If you want a scrub mixture, take a handful of salt (you can add more depending on the surface of the scrubbing, it takes a little bit more for your feet) and add three tablespoons of salt. Add a tablespoon of olive oil and mix until you achieve a paste-like texture. Scrub this all over your feet or hands to remove excess skin and reduce your callouses.

3. Brown sugar and olive oil scrub

This foot scrub is so easy to make and you can use it regularly just before you take a shower. Mix a tablespoon of olive oil, brown sugar, and baking soda together. The brown sugar exfoliates and the olive oil moisturizes your skin, while the baking soda is effective in removing excess skin and dirt that can also make your skin whiter. You can also use this scrub on rough skin areas such as your knees and elbows.

4. Basic Bath Salt recipe

The essential ingredient to bath salts would be, of course, the salt! You can try a lot of kinds of rare salts from all over the world and their benefits and effects vary. I suggest using Epsom salt and sea salt which are available in many groceries. Once you get your hands in the salt you just need baking soda and any essential oil or fragrance oil that would depend on your preference. The mix would be 3 cups of Epsom salt, 2 cups of sea salt, 1 cup of baking soda, and ½ ounce of essential or fragrance oil. First, mix the
salts and baking soda together. Always make sure to break up clumps. It’s better to do this on a wide stainless bowl. Add the fragrance or essential oils. Mix everything well. This can keep up to a month in an air-tight jar or container.

5. Sugar and honey/lemon face scrub

Just mix squeezed juice from a lemon or three tablespoons of honey with a handful of sugar and this scrub can exfoliate your skin removing dirt, and excess skin. If you use lemon juice, it can help lighten your skin and improve skin tone.

6. Olive Oil

Just olive oil. This simple household ingredient does wonders to your skin by moisturizing and adding that soft glow everyone wants. Just massage your face with a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. This magical oil removes dead skin cells and clears you pores of dirt you get from the daily city excursions.
